The game revolves around a fragile pact between scheming pirates and an enormous hoard, and it rewards strategy and clever teamwork more than strength. It is designed with adult groups in mind, such as friends, families and colleagues, and the themed location starts the experience before the door even closes. Afterwards, crews can stay for pirate-style food and drink, from satay to fall-off-the-bone spare ribs and themed drinks suggestions, and the same operator also runs Kids City and the Borrelboot Borne party boat.

Escaperoom Borne is built around one pirate-themed game, De Wraak van Bloedbaard (Bloodbeard's Revenge), in which a shaky alliance between treacherous pirates and an enormous treasure becomes your puzzle to crack. Teams of up to seven break codes and solve brain-teasers in a swashbuckling world, with the venue recommending teams of at least four.

The whole venue is dressed in pirate style, from the welcome by a costumed pirate to a menu of cannonball schnitzel and pirate skewers, so the experience starts long before the room. The escape room is positioned as designed for adults, in a venue shared with a pirate-themed indoor playground.
