About
Bella Ciao, the room that opened the venue in 2019, lets two to six players join El Professor's crew for a meticulously planned heist with hostages, masks, overalls and a money transport, all within 65 minutes; it has repeatedly been a TERPECA finalist and is playable in Dutch or English. Here I Am, opened in 2022 and inspired by the series Vis a Vis, locks two to five players into a reopened, decaying prison where guards watch every move and following the house rules matters. A third experience, Pray, completes the line-up, and the team debriefs each group after play.
The games
3 games to choose from
Escape Room Katwijk is a cinematic, award-chasing venue with three big rooms. Bella Ciao, a Money Heist-style raid with El Professor, has been the audience favourite since 2019 and is a regular Terpeca finalist. Here I Am locks you into the grim Cruz la Muerte prison under constant guard and is praised as one of the most realistic experiences around. Pray is a thriller set in a funeral home, led by a live actor. A fourth room, Can We Meat, set in an abandoned pet-food factory, has been sold out in pre-sale.
The experience
The atmosphere and the groups this venue has in mind.
Atmosphere
The sets are built with film-level realism, from armoured-van heists to prison cells and a chapel of rest, with water-based fog, upgrades and a real sense of being inside the story. International reviewers have ranked the venue among the best they have played. Two rooms are described as action games and one as a thriller, but none is billed as horror.
Who it suits
Experienced players who want top-tier rooms, and friend groups willing to treat it as a full-on experience. You do not need to know the TV series for Bella Ciao. Advised group sizes are three or four, and ages are 14+ for Bella Ciao and 18+ for the others, or younger with an adult.
Good to know
Intensity, accessibility, booking and facilities, as the venue lists them.
Here I Am is very physical and uses a guard character in the intro, while Pray features a live actor and a tense atmosphere. The latter is not recommended during pregnancy, and the venue asks guests with epilepsy to contact them first.
Shown only where the venue confirms it. A feature missing here is not confirmed either way.
The rooms are not wheelchair accessible, and Here I Am is not suitable for anyone with poor mobility.
Book online up to 48 hours ahead, or phone for last-minute availability. A booking is only final once you have received a confirmation. All rooms run in Dutch and English, and a two-player team gets 10 extra minutes. Companies can pay by invoice.
