About
In Pandora's Box, two to seven players uncover the secrets an old man kept locked in a box on his desk, while Zombie Apocalypse is set in 2035 as a highly contagious virus ravages the world, for up to six. Crime Scene Mystery is built specifically for two people, who must solve the murder of prominent businessman Cornelis Goudhof after breaking news throws the city into turmoil. The venue is a five-minute walk from Elst station with free parking on site and is easily combined with a day in Arnhem or Nijmegen.
The games
3 games to choose from
Escape Room Elst, five minutes' walk from Elst station, offers three 75-minute themes. Pandora's Box has a silent old man and a box full of secrets that were meant to stay hidden; Zombie Apocalypse is set in 2035, when a mysterious virus has ravaged the world; and Crime Scene Mystery is a murder case for exactly two players, set around the death of businessman Cornelis Goudhof. The standard rooms take two to seven players, and the pair-only mystery runs with two.
The experience
The atmosphere and the groups this venue has in mind.
Atmosphere
The venue calls its game exciting but not scary, and the rooms are mildly physical but above all mentally challenging, with crawling and climbing an attic ladder as a rule of thumb for fitness. After the game there is time to chat, take a team photo and have a drink.
Who it suits
Friends, families with teens aged 12 and up, stag parties, company teams and tourists in the Arnhem and Nijmegen area. Teams of five are recommended in each room, and groups of up to 13 can play across both rooms.
Good to know
Intensity, accessibility, booking and facilities, as the venue lists them.
The venue warns about light effects for people with photosensitive epilepsy and about a mildly claustrophobic feel, since you have to be locked in to escape; an emergency button ends the game instantly. The game is mildly physical, with crawling and climbing involved.
Shown only where the venue confirms it. A feature missing here is not confirmed either way.
Rooms are booked online in two-hour slots, of which about 90 minutes are used for the briefing, the game, a team photo and a drink. Free cancellation applies up to 48 hours before, or 72 hours for several rooms, and there is free parking on the grounds.
