About

About DelftEscape

The premise is that renovation of the monumental house revealed a secret passage to other worlds. In Red het Koninkrijk, inspired by Tolkien's The Hobbit, two to six players must return the Delvenstein and save the kingdoms for a wise wizard, while Finding Pinocchio is a lighter, humorous mission to stop scientists locking the puppet away. The house also hosts seasonal and rotating games such as Christmas Island and The Lost Artifact. DelftEscape's original tower room, De Bagijnetoren, is at a separate address on the old city wall.

4 games to choose from

DelftEscape, in a monumental 1732 canal house on Oude Delft, runs a permanent room and three seasonal ones, all lasting an hour. Red het Koninkrijk sends you through secret portals to other worlds to help a wise magician find the Delvenstein before darkness spills into ours (medium, 2 to 6 players); Finding Pinocchio has you saving Geppetto's puppet from scientists (medium, 2 to 8); The Lost Artifact is a hard jungle-island search that involves travelling in the dark and the occasional crawl (14+); and Christmas Island, running from late November to mid-January, is a festive hunt for Santa's flying powder.

The experience

Who DelftEscape suits

The atmosphere and the groups this venue has in mind.

Atmosphere

The building itself is part of the show, a historic patrician house that suits the fantasy and legend themes, and rooms are described as scary only in a gentle way, where your heart may beat faster but the aim is a fantastic experience. A host in the control room watches and helps, and a reception area serves drinks before the game.

Who it suits

Families with children from ten, friends and company outings, from small teams to groups combining the rooms with a canal cruise, city walk or beer tasting. Children under 15 play with an adult, tall players should expect to duck in Red het Koninkrijk, and The Lost Artifact is the pick for experienced players.

Good to know

Before you book at DelftEscape

Intensity, accessibility, booking and facilities, as the venue lists them.

Intensity

  • Darkness
  • Confined spaces

The Lost Artifact requires travelling in the dark and sometimes crawling or ducking, while Red het Koninkrijk has low sections where tall players must stoop. The venue says the rooms are exciting but not too scary and that anyone can leave at any time because the door is never locked.
