About
Teams of two to four choose a name, collect a key tag and work through the prison complex, where some cells demand brains, others strength, agility or nimble fingers, and points only add up through teamwork. The location takes part in the Prison Island World Cup, with local qualifying rounds for teams of three that can lead to national finals. Set within the Podium19 leisure venue, it is a popular choice for group outings, teambuilding and family days in Zeeland, with packages combining the game with other activities.
The games
1 game to choose from
Prison Island Middelburg, at Podium19, is a real-life game inside a prison complex of 27 cells, 27 challenges and one goal. As a team of two to four you take a key tag, play the cells in any order and as often as you like, and score points by cracking codes, solving riddles and taking on physical tasks. Each cell has its own physical, tactical and technical difficulty rating.
The experience
The atmosphere and the groups this venue has in mind.
Atmosphere
Fast, hands-on and sociable: a green light means a cell is free, red means a failed attempt or a timed-out cell, and a printout of your team score waits at the desk, so the losers can buy the winners a drink. It is described as more than an escape room, with variety from sharp puzzling to dexterity.
Who it suits
Teams, families and friends who want a mix of brains and agility. Prison Island is also a competitive scene, and the venue hosts local qualifiers for the Prison Island World Cup for teams of three aged 15 and up.
