About
Built in 1912, the Semper Avanti was the largest freight ship on the Overijsselse Vecht until a collision in 1963 left it with less than an hour before sinking. Under the theme Pompen of Verzuipen, groups of four to eight crack codes, open locks and solve puzzles to save the crew. The same operator offers Bush Battle Vechtdal, an outdoor Expedition Robinson-style escape for up to 40, the city game De Verboden Handel through central Ommen for up to 60, and Hunted, an escape game played on board while cruising the Vecht, all of which can be paired with a barbecue or pizza buffet.

Escape Room Vechtdal, run by Rederij Peters in Ommen, is set aboard the Semper Avanti, the largest cargo ship on the Overijssel Vecht, built in 1912. In 1963 a collision dooms the vessel, and a crew of four to eight has 60 minutes to crack codes, open locks and bring the sinking ship to the nearest harbour. The tagline is 'pump or drown'.

The experience
The atmosphere and the groups this venue has in mind.
Atmosphere
A nautical race against rising water on a real boat, with codes, puzzles and teamwork. Rederij Peters pairs it with the river: afterwards you can cruise in a sloop, ride a funny Funbike tour or try a giant canoe or bamboo challenge.
Who it suits
Friends, families with children from 12, company outings and children's parties on a boat. Packages combine the escape room with a sloop trip for six or more, a Funbike tour for twelve or more, coffee and cake, drinks or a barbecue.
